Type of Cancer: Sarcoma & Bone Cancer

July’s Theme is Cooling & Centering

Our Focus is on Calm, cooling centered awareness

Legs Up Wall

Legs Up Wall relieves stress and calms the nervous system. While traditionally the hips are on the floor and the legs are next to one another on the wall, there are other fun variations that can be incorporated into class or to accommodate each body.

·         Add a blanket or bolster under the hips with the legs up the wall

·         Cross the legs that are up the wall

·         Keeping the legs on the wall, widen the distance between them (wide angle on the wall)

·         Keeping the legs on the wall, gently bend the knees and bring the feet together (butterfly on the wall)

*If a person can’t get down to the floor, legs up the wall can be done on the bed

Chair and Chair Assisted versions of Legs up wall

·         Laying on the floor, place the calves on the seat of a chair / ottoman / sofa

·         Sit in one chair, bring another chair in front of you and add bolsters / blankets on the seat to add height.  Set the calves on the heightened seat

Always remember that the focus should be on really gentle movement with their doctor’s permission.  In addition, their doctor and/or PT may have advised them of modifications as well.
