Port Orange, Florida

I have been practicing yoga for 20+ years but found my home with Kula Yoga when it first opened in Port Orange, Florida in 2011. The Kula community of teachers and practitioners were welcoming and inspiring. This atmosphere instigated a burning desire to find out more about yoga by entering the Yoga Teacher Training at My Happy Place Kula Yoga. I became a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance in 2015.

Yin Yoga

Teacher training triggered a desire to find out more about yoga with a focus on Yin Yoga practice and meditation. I completed my teacher training in Yin Yoga with Joe Barnett, a senior teaching assistant of Paul Gilley, the founder of Yin Yoga. I have also studied the work of Sarah Powers, Bernie Clark, Gabrielle Harris, and Travis Elliot, all noted in the practice and teaching of Yin. I was so inspired by what I learned I wanted to share this knowledge with my students at Kula and began teaching Yin in 2016.

In 2019/2020 I continued my yoga training with Laura Burkhart and graduated from Laura’s RYT 300-hour Alignment and Vinyasa training.  The training included how to work with student injuries, special populations, and the latest alignment updates.  I found the newly gained information was very valuable in teaching my students to stay safe in their practice and I use it in every class as well as my own practice.

Chair Yoga

The 300-hour training inspired me to learn more about Chair Yoga and I found it very helpful with the variety of students coming to the studio. So, I became certified in Chair Yoga and started teaching as well as my other classes.

In 2022 I continued to expand my teacher training with Flying Beach Yoga to learn how to teach yoga to children and I continue to assist in the Flying Beach Yoga Kids’ afterschool program and summer camp.

Yin Yoga, Chair Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Kid’s Yoga, Meditation, and music are all passions filling my yoga classes at Kula Yoga, and I love to share and inspire my students with the love of yoga.

CLL -Chronic Lymphoma Leukemia

In June of 2025 I was diagnosed with CLL (Chronic Lymphoma Leukemia) and in my research for my new journey I learned about CPF Oncology Yoga Teach Training. I am looking forward sharing CPF with others in my community.
