Oncology Yoga Teacher Training in Jacksonville, FL at the Mayo Clinic

The Christina Phipps Foundation provided specialized training to 38 yoga teachers on August 24 and 25, 2024 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. They will go on to teach oncology yoga to their local cancer community free of charge.


The Christina Phipps Foundation’s Oncology Yoga Teacher Training was held in the Kinne Auditorium and yoga teachers zoomed in from VA, NY, South Africa and NC.


The program included the following speakers:

Molly Benolken, M.D. and Monica Price, M.D. presented Introduction to Oncology

Diagnosis, Treatment, Breast Surgery

 

Dawn Mussallem, D.O. presented Integrative Breast Oncology

 

Ruby Soriano, M.S.N.  presented Nurse Navigation

 

Robert Maxwell, M.D. presented Breast Radiology

 

Rosario Concepcion, MD presented Breast Cancer Rehabilitation

 

Noli Dioneda, DPT presented Lymphedema and Physical Therapy

 

Kristin Lothman, L.C.S.W The Psychosocial Impact of Breast Cancer

 

Beth Daugherty, MS, MA, E-RYT 500 Next Steps for Yoga Teachers

 

 

The Sunday program was focused on Yoga. The Technical Training Speakers were:

 

Beth Daugherty, Jeanie Sallah and Dr. Margaret Alexander presented Oncology Chair Yoga

 

Barbara Baker- Kuterka presented Gentle Yoga for Lymphedema

 

Bonnie Davis Oncology presented Yoga and Breathwork

 

Renee Foster, LCSW presented Somatic Yoga
